Faces of Bhutan - Children

There's no greater joy for a portrait photographer than to spend a day in a natural setting capturing living moments with people of all generations. These photographs were taken at various locations in Bhutan during my travels in December 2013. Watch for further posts of Faces in Bhutan

Do not ask your children to strive for extraordinary lives.
Such striving may seem admirable, but it is the way of foolishness.
Help them instead to find the wonder and the marvel of an ordinary life.
Show them the joy of tasting tomatoes, apples and pears.
Show them how to cry when pets and people die.
Show them the infinite pleasure in the touch of a hand.
And make the ordinary come alive for them.
The extraordinary will take care of itself.     William Martin

Your children are not your children. They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself. They came through you but not from you and though they are with you yet they do not belong to you.  Khalil Gibran

The pursuit of truth and beauty is a sphere of activity in which we are permitted to remain children all our lives.  Albert Einstein

It is easier to build strong children, than repair broken men.  Frederick Douglass

There can be no keener revelation of a society's soul than the way in which it treats its children.  Nelson Mandela

Some of my happiest moments were knowing all my children were safe and asleep in bed.  Gretchen Estrup

Children are educated by what the grown-up is and not by his talk.  Carl Jung

The most interesting information comes from children, for they tell all they know and then stop.  Mark Twain

There rate only two lasting bequests we can hope to give our children. One of these is roots, the other, wings.  Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

The most sophisticated people I know - inside they are all children.  Jim Henson

Accept the children the way we accept trees - with gratitude, because they are a blessing… You don't expect trees to change, you love them as they are.  Isabel Allende

Children learn to smile from their parents.  Shinichi Suzuki

I hope you enjoyed these children. Please leave a comment and share with your friends. If you make a gmail account you can become a "follower." The next post will include children at play and school, adults and families.

These are such wonderful pictures of babies and children. I worked with children for more than forty years and there is nothing more uplifting than seeing the face of a child and their smile for you. Beautiful and so touching!
